Paul Klee believed that the pivotal thing for the process of artistic creation is that "infinite spark" that is the essential condition of art "in the highest sphere;" art exists in a region where the "light of intellect gutters and goes out." The obtaining of this "infinite" or "secret" spark is "a blessing that is granted only to the true artist."
